FOGWELL FLAX
FOGWELL FLAX
biography
Foggie was born in the UK in the city of Liverpool where he became lead singer with popular Liverpool band Mercury. When they split up, a very successful musical comedy duo was formed, called Union Jack. With Foggie on bass and Mick Woolley on guitar, they won their heat of ITV’s talent show New Faces but not the final.
After a busy period following that TV exposure, Union Jack came to an end, and Fogwell "Foggie" Flax began. Soon after, Foggie won LWT’s talent show Search For a Star outright.
His TV exposure includes: LWT’s Saturday night quiz Punchlines, Co-presenter on Central TV's Tiswas, Meridian’s Saturday Starship & No 73, YTV’s 3-2-1, Tyne-Tees’ Make Me Laugh, BBC’s Children In Need (twice) and The Generation Game (twice), National Lottery Big Ticket Show, and Sky TV’s Who Do You Do?
As a voice actor, he has provided voices for: Central TV’s Spitting Image; Merlin the Wizard (finale, Olympia Horse Of The Year Show); Fatso and Stretch (award-winning show in Dubai); Haven/British Holidays’ Bradley Bear, Naughty Ned & Merlin;
He is no stranger to cruise work, and has had his very own chat show at sea called ‘Up Close And Personal’, interviewing many famous UK celebs.
In addition to his highly-original style of impression and observation comedy, he is also a sensational singer both in his own right, and in impersonation mode as the voice of many famous vocalists, including Michael Bolton, Neil Diamond, Joe Cocker, Rod Stewart, Paul McCartney, Bryan Ferry, Michael McDonald, John Denver, The Stylistics and Bryan Adams (to name but a few).
He also performs a full Tribute Show to the music of Sting and The Police.
He lives on the edge of the Peak District National Park in East Cheshire, and enjoys playing guitar, piano, and writing songs and music. He has a keen interest in history & archaeology, especially the occupation of Britain by the Romans, and in particular their astounding road-building legacy.
